Have you ever been confused about a mail you sent from you Windows Mobile 6.1 device, which didn't arrive at your recipient and was left in you outgoing box?

Probably you have been hit by a bug in Windows Mobile 6.1, where you can find an official patch for this here.

I knew it - as now library is actually available for the Windows Live Services regarding CF, someone would create sth. on that. I din't expect it to be that fast!

Alex Feinman hit the road with some articles on this topic:

Accessing Windows Live Services from Compact .NET Framework applications - Part I, Authentication

Accessing Windows Live Services from Compact .NET Framework applications - Part II, Contacts

Accessing Windows Live Services from Compact .NET Framework applications - Part III, Photos and Storage

All are a must read!!!

If you haven't had the chance to take a look at the recorded PDC session on SL2 for Windows Mobile over here, or just interested in the samples, which have been shown, then take a look on Amit's post on the shown samples.

You can find the post here.

Constanze Kratel informs us about the new Look and Feel of the WM Dev Senter on MSDN (US):

"Just in time for PDC we have made some changes to the Windows Mobile Developer Center on MSDN.

We have arranged our content around the different steps that make up Windows Mobile Application Development and have selected a range of content from different media. Here’s what it looks like:

image

We have also created a new section called “Windows  Mobile Buzz,” which provides you with links to our social networking profiles, like our Windows Mobile Facebook group.

You will still find all the familiar items you know from previously, such as Featured Resources, Webcasts, Blogs, and others.

It’s not only the Windows Mobile Developer Center that has changed. The Windows Mobile Team blog has a new look and feel too. Check it out:

And last, but not least, check out our new Windows Mobile Developer portal:

As always we are happy to get feedback from you about these changes!

As already posted, the PDC announced the Windows Azure Platform, on which the Live Services sits on top. Those Services include Live Mesh as well.

As announced @ PDC a Mobile Client for Live Mesh for Windows Mobile is now available - actually for the US and UK. Even, if you are happy to live in these countries it is hard to get a working account though, as the amount of testers is limited.

Arriving at L.A. I have already heard, that there wouldn't be much on Windows Mobile @ PDC. So I've started asking myself, if this would be the right conference to attend to as a Device Application MVP.

Looking back from today I have to say: Yes it was - definitly!

The Windows Mobile Booth at the Microsoft Pavillion was most of the time pretty crowded. (Not the time the picture has been taken, as it was i hour before the PDC closed)

PDC-WM-booth

The Windows Mobile Booth was also a meeting point for a lot of interested mobile devs, as well as (Device Application) MVPs. So I have been able to meet Maarten Struys, Ginny Caughey, Torsten Weber, Paul Yao, Dave Glover and many more. Even Lillian Eng, Eric Nelson and Loke  Uei Tan have been available @ the booth to answer questions.

Especially to that Constanze Roman has had a lot of work to do, besides networking. She did a lot of video interviews with different people (including me) on Windows Mobile. Starguests have been Amit Chopra and Giorgio Sardo, who announced Silverlight 2 Mobile and showed a lot of demos during their session @ PDC.

You can see the video on the Microsoft PDC Homepage or directly here on Channel 9. The first demo by Amit showed his Visual Studio for Windows Mobile which indeed has been a Silverlight presentations of Screenshot, but still very amusing.

Unfortunatelly this session was only able to show the demos by themselves, which was very impressing, so that taking time to dive in into one or 2 Codesamples would have been nice. In my opionion it should have been a second session where a codedive could have taken place at. But the session was so crowded that even 2!!! overflow rooms have been established. Thanks Amit and Giorgio for this great session!

As Amit announced the first CTP on Silverlight 2 Mobile is supposed to be available very early of 2009.

Regarding the session, there were no more sessions explicitly on Windows Mobile. One session was cancelled earlier, so this was the only session.

But during keynotes and sessions it was shown, that Windows Mobile is still a very important platform.

So was Bluehoo announced on Monday, which is part of the new Windows Azure Platform, especially on Windows Mobile. Other sessions on this topic, especially Windows Live Services have shown different demos on how to integrate Windows Mobile here as well. As nothing officially on an API for Windows Mobile regarding Live Services has been said or shown, my personal impression is that there is something in the pipe. How otherwise should have the demos been working on Windows Mobile? ;-)

All in all - not very much on Mobility @ PDC, but the little bit was quite impressing.

Seeing forward to attend PDC 2009 from Nov 17 - 20th in L.A.. And who knows? Probably that time Windows Mobile will be the lineup for the keynote? *JOKINGLY*.
